Pressure treated timber remains the most cost effective material for fencing. An alternative to Chromated Copper Arsonate has been used since 2004 to provide the key insecticide and fungacide roles. Key to the successful take of the treatment is the moisture content of the timber as excessive sap content inhibits the timbers ability to absorb the treatment. Insufficiently seasoned timber is often cited as an additional reason as to the premature failure of fencing materials since 2004.  For this reason we use stakes kiln-dried to 28% moisture content prior to treatment.
